Last Official Blog of the Semester

Hey guys! It's been another fun semester blogging for the bschool. I hope you guys got something out of reading it :).

I'm completely stoked about finishing my exams! One of my roommates already had all 4 of her exams before I even started on 1. I've been studying pretty well for mine though so hopefully it'll translate through my scores.

After finals, I'm going to Colorado with a few of my friends to go snowboarding! I haven't been in like 5 years so I'm pumped for it! It's going to be really painful, but I'm sure it'll be relaxing at the same time.

After skiing, my sister is coming home to celebrate Christmas! I actually need to finish my Christmas shopping for my family before I leave for Colorado. That's always the hardest part of winter break. :P

Then, I need to shoot my McComb's Next Top Major video with my group, which will be another couple of days.

Fast forward...it's New Years! and then I leave for LA on the 2nd! Crazy!

My winter break is already planned out for me! Well, hopefully in between those days I'll be able to read a lot of my books that I've got and watch some DVDs.

And the good part is... I'll still be blogging next semester! Yes, I'll be reporting from Los Angeles with all my news on the internships and what it's like being a student away from home (Fall registration will be fun :P). So keep up with me while I'm gone! (I'll probably also update during winter as well).

Good luck with finals and have a great winter break!!

PS. I hope yall have been getting better sleep than this guy...

Time is Running Out

I've been sleeping really poorly for this past week and I think the tiredness is catching up to me. I ended getting a decent score on my IB exam, so now I'm going to take the optional final to try to raise up my grade. So my total for this semester is 4 exams! I've never had so much so I guess we'll see how much more sleep I'll get this week. I end on next Tuesday, so I'll still be in Austin for awhile.

So onto LA news...it ends up that I can do both internships! I'm excited that I'll be getting as much experience as I can. Since they both count towards my COM internship credit, I'll still have my MKT internship credit for the summer. Hopefully I'll be able to find one in LA so I don't have to travel around again (my sister is there). I'm totally pumped up for LA now that I have a job. :)

For this past month, I totally forgot about McComb's Next Top Major film competition. Since I'm leaving for LA, our group has to finish the bulk of the movie by January. Luckily, we all live in Dallas so we'll be working on that for the break. It should be pretty fun to shoot so hopefully it won't feel like homework.

Time to study for OM! G'luck with your exams.

EXCLAMATION POINT

I GOT TWO INTERNSHIP OFFERS IN THE SPAN OF 5 MINUTES! I REALLY WANTED THESE TWO AND I THINK I CAN DO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.

Ok sorry I'm a little ecstatic after hearing from no one this whole time. One of the companies is a film production company and the other is a TV show. I really hope I can end up doing both because I don't know how to decide between the two. But at least this is a good problem to have!

PS. I thought Twilight was an OK movie compared to the books...but the soundtrack is some good stuff:

Last week of classes!

I can't believe it's already over! I'm going to be LA so soon. WOW. My Thanksgiving break was pretty calm. I ended up just reading New Moon and studying for my IB test that's today. Oh and of course wayyy too much food. I think I probably ate half our pumpkin pie throughout the break. Where's Gregory when I need it? I didn't really do much Black Friday shopping. I ended up getting a couple of The Office seasons and Juno! I don't think it's worth staying in lines all night unless I'm getting a TV or something. Maybe next year. :P

I only have one test this week (today) so I need to start hitting the books for finals starting tomorrow. I have 4 finals (maybe 3 depending on IB today). I think I'm going to lock myself up somewhere on campus...Maybe I'll camp out at PCL when it becomes open for 24 hours.

I'm still looking for my internship in LA. I have another phone interview on Wednesday, but I really want to know before finals...that would probably help with my stress level a bit. On the good side, I think I'm getting better at phone interviews. The biggest problem has been finding a secluded area with reception for my cell. My apartment has zero service for T-Mobile so I've been scavenging the business school for empty rooms. I've done it a couple of times in the Ford Career interview suites, but sometimes it's closed when I need it. Anyone know of a good spot?

Hope everyone's been hanging in there. ABSA has Feed Your Mind tonight and tomorrow for free food and goodies. Career Services are still doing Free Smoothies and Free Lattes for surveys on the 2nd and 3rd. Go get 'em!

P.S. BCS sucks.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's finally that time of year! Time to go home and eat up on some yummy grub. I think my favorite is the yams.

The only bad part about this break is that I have a IB test and a MAN paper due the Monday I come back. I guess that's what we get for having Thanksgiving so close to the last week of classes. Oh and after that I have 4 finals. I've never had more than 2 finals so far, so I'm not sure what to expect during dead week. I should probably start studying when I get back to Dallas tonight.

I'm still stressing about internships. It's really sad to worry so much but what can you do? I'm going to LA in like 6 weeks! AHHHHHHHH. Someone give me a job!!

So for Black Friday, I'm thinking of buying an external hard drive to back up everything from my laptop. The only problem is that I don't really feel like waking up at 5 AM or whatever to go get it. I know I'm getting too old for this.

Well I hope everyone has a safe and warm Thanksgiving! Hopefully UT will hang in the BCS rankings as well! Cheers!

MMMM SMOOTHIES!

Free smoothies and lattes!! I'm really jealous that I don't have my internship offer yet. But if you do already (or job offer), go get your free drinks by filling out a survey. Tomorrow is free smoothies at the BBA Career Services office between 11-1PM. They'll also be doing it Dec 2nd and 3rd! Hopefully I'll get an offer by then. :P

I'm in the Mil lab working on my MAN 336 group project. I've made an intro video for our project (which I'll post up later). But til then...new music from Paramore!

Crunch week

The last full week before Thanksgiving is always a hectic one. Lots and lots of homework and events crammed into this week. Case competition didn't go as we expected. It's always a bummer when the judges say "Your presentation was awesome!" but we end up getting poor results. I think I'm going to retire from case competitions now. I really miss sleep.

I have another phone interview this Thursday. I can't wait to hear back from the last two. Hopefully I'll end up getting one offer so that I can stop worrying about LA.

Sorry this entry is short. I have a MAN test tomorrow and I'm about halfway done studying.

BUT, new Harry Potter trailer! Yes!

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Can I do that again?

So this week I got replies from 3 companies who scheduled phone interviews with me. I just had one today and I want to re-do it. It's not that I did badly on it, I was just really nervous. I feel like phone interviews are harder than face-to-face interviews just because everything is based on your articulation and voice. Hopefully, I'll be alright though. I have another one tomorrow so maybe I'll be less nervous for that one.

Oh and I entered into ABSA's Case Competition. The decision was really last minute as we entered at the actual kick-off. So we're probably going to pull an all-nighter tonight since most of us don't have Friday classes. If you don't know what case competition is, basically your group receives a problem/situation and you have to create a solution. Most of the cases have been marketing related but you can use all aspects of business to find your answer. It's really competitive but also a lot of fun since you get to actually apply your business knowledge to real-life cases.

Ok, time to go ace my biology test.

A Glorious Monday

We finally did it!! Our IM football team won the championships yesterday in Coed B Silver!! It's awesome that we won shirts and that our picture will be forever immortalized in Gregory!

Also, my birthday was this past weekend and it couldn't have been any better. I got to hang out with all of my friends pretty much the whole weekend. After so much birthday festivities and football games, I'm a little bit physically tired. But I have a Bio test on Thursday so I have to shift gears for that starting today.

My internship search is getting wearisome. It's been hard getting in contact with a lot of these people. I've been calling around Human Resources and emailing everyone but it's getting harder to receive a reply. Sigh I guess all I can do is keep trying!

Oh and I've also been reading Stephanie Meyer's Twilight. It's pretty good so far but I need to finish it before the movie adaptation comes out in a couple of weeks.

Oh nooooo

My camera just got broken this weekend. The lens won't focus right after I dropped it on Halloween. My car also got hit today while it was parked on the street. Luckily the person left me their number, but he's kind of shady as to not wanting to give me his info...sigh. At least my birthday is coming up this week. Yet now I have to go figure out what to do with my car before then.

I am finally going to work hardcore on those internships!!!! I'm going to BA 101 tomorrow at 8 AM (I know right) to make some announcements and afterwards I'm going to send at least 5 applications!! I'm determined. If I don't, I'll post up the most embarrassing picture of me here next time :P. I'm only doing 5 because I need to go to an auto repair shop to get an estimate on the damages to my car. Poor baby.

I had my second IB 350 test today! I thought it went better than the first but who knows. I always end up having two possible choices to choose from...tricky tricky. I don't have another test till next Thursday so I will definitely finish all my internship search this week.

I also realized that I have 3 film projects right now. I love filming/editing, but this is a bit much. First, I'm in the McComb's Next Top Major competition and we need to film that before the semester is over. I'm also doing a film presentation for my big MAN 336 project that's due in a couple of weeks. I'm also shooting a promo video for my campus ministry, Crossroads.

Speaking of Crossroads, we just made the semifinals for IM Football!! This is huge for us, considering that we are playing in the Coed B bracket! We've never made it this far (in my college career) in Coed C league. Our next game is Thursday!

Probably the best halloween episode The Office has put on:

It's November!!

Yay my birthday is coming up next Friday!! I'll finally be 21! I was hoping it'd be pretty cool by then, but the heat seems to be sticking around for another couple of weeks.

How was your halloween? I ended going downtown to see everyone's costumes but it was so packed! I've never seen so many people on one street since the World Cup in South Korea. I'm glad I made it out of there alive! Next year will probably be just as crazy since it's going to land on a Saturday.

Tomorrow is Day Lights Savings...so one extra hour!

My best registration yet

I don't register until tomorrow, but I'm glad I don't have to stress about it! I'm going to be taking 5 classes in LA: How Hollywood Works, How Music Business Works, the Creative Process in Film/TV, Topics in Entertainment, and my communication internship class. I'm so excited to learn more about these topics! Hopefully it won't even feel like class.

Yesterday, I went to walk-in advising at the communications school. They looked over my resume and cover letter. They gave me a lot of useful pointers about applying to production companies! If you guys need help with your applications, take advantage of career services! They are seriously the most useful resources available.

Halloween is this Friday! I still don't have a costume. Maybe I'll just dress up really dark and put some scary make-up on. Or just go downtown and get a bratwurst...we'll see.

On to IM football news, our team got bumped up to Co-ed B! We were pretty bummed since we had a good chance of winning it all this year but we still won our first round 37-0!! So we still might be able to pull this off...

AND a new Harry Potter trailer came out! yesssss...

Saturday, October 25, 2008

1 down, 14 to go

Yay! I sent out my first cover letter and resume the other day. Hopefully I'll send out two more tonight! My goal is to send out all 15 companies on my list by next Friday. The scary part is having to wait and to see if they actually want a phone interview with me. I think I'll start panicking in mid-November if I don't hear from anyone.

So I went to the Communications Career Services and grabbed some of their cover letter/resume guidelines and I'm surprised at how different they are from the business school. Everything is a lot more lenient in terms of format. I'm not sure which one I'm supposed to follow so I just went with communications (since it is UTLA).

Did anyone watch the game today!! We're still #1!!! Hook em!

Intramurals <3

Our co-ed football team is officially in the playoffs! We went 4-0 during our season so hopefully we'll get a bye for the first round. I really really really want to get a championship shirt this year. *Crosses fingers*

Our IM soccer team is 1-2 but we might still have a chance of making playoffs depending on how the other teams do this week. Soccer is a lot of fun, but so dangerous! I've never been beaten up so much from any sport.

I'm so glad that my round of exams are over. I don't have another test till November, but I definitely need to learn from the past and start preparing now by keeping up with reading.

So I think I've finally decided to go for a more creative/production internship for LA. In that way, I'll be able to see if I really want to pursue something in that area rather than marketing. Thank goodness for internships! I'll hopefully get a more corporate marketing internship in the summer so I guess I should start looking for that too.

Why am I stressing out over this?!

Ok, I want to apologize for my ranting in this entry but I have to say something.

I find it completely annoying and disrespectful when people constantly ask me about my grades. Does it really matter to you what I got on my test? It's a different story when people ask "How did you do?" versus "What did you get?" Especially when you keep prying to make me say my grade. And yes, sometimes I do bad on tests but yall don't have to make a disgusted face while I tell yall about it. I mean really, who gives? Why spend so much time worrying about other people's grades? Live your own life and make your own standards, but don't judge others based on them. Seriously, grades AREN'T the most important things in life. No wonder there's such a high suicide rate at schools like MIT. Competition can make people so depressed over a number. But I'll be fine with my B.

Sigh, whatever.

No case for me

I'm not entering into McComb's Case Competition anymore! I have to volunteer for my MAN project next Saturday so that takes precedence. I definitely want to do it next year as a senior though.

I took my two tests yesterday and I think I did alright in them. I'm trying not to get my hopes up just incase I did really bad haha. I'm still dead tired though. I can't wait to get a good night's sleep tonight!

So now that my round of tests is done, it's time for me to start looking for internships in LA! It's a bit stressful contacting all these companies by email. I feel like the chances of getting a response from them are really low. I wish we had a career expo type event to meet with recruiters from Cali. I guess my best chance is to contact as many as possible to get a chance for an interview. Wish me luck!

OU Sucks!

WOOT GO LONGHORNS!!! I was lucky to make it back to Austin to watch the fourth quarter and man we rocked it! I'm so proud that we beat the #1 ranked team, so hopefully we'll keep on truckin' and make it to the championships this year!

Dallas was a brief trip! It was great to see my parents before they headed to NY for vacation time. But I felt like I spent a lot of the time worrying about this semester. My grades aren't looking too good (just got back IB grade). I really really need to do well this Tuesday to not only bump up my grades but to boost my self-esteem. With all this going on, I entered into McComb's Next Top Major! I looooove filming and editing so this is totally my calling. My team signed up for supply chain management and we are going to rock it (hopefully haha). I also want to sign up for case competition again. I don't know what it is, but I can't seem to say no to case comp. I feel like I have to win something before I can let it go. But I only want to do it if I can get the right team involved. Dedication and commitment are going to be key.

In music news, I was going to see Brooke Fraser next Friday in Austin but she backed out of the tour due to illness. I'm so bummed because I haven't gotten to see her perform her new songs yet (and she's from Australia so who knows when she'll be back). So in honor of her, I'll put up a live performance on here:

Drained

I have 2 tests today and yet I'm updating my blog! I have them back to back in about 30 minutes and I feel I can't stuff anymore information in my brain. I have MAN and IB today and conveniently, OM and BIO fall on the same day next week too. I can't wait to go home and sleep tonight! Hardcore studying for me...starting tomorrow :).

I'm going back home this Thursday to Dallas! I'm not going to the OU game but I need to get some stuff and celebrate my dad's birthday. I'm planning on leaving during the second half of the game on Saturday so that I can beat the traffic back home. I haven't been to a Red River shootout yet, but I'm planning to next year. Here's my list of must-do's for senior year:

1. ACL 3-day ticket
2. Season passes + OU game
3. SXSW

Yea it's kind of short for now, but I'm sure it'll start getting longer later.

FYI: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE! There are booths everywhere on campus to register...so go do it!! Hook the Vote is also going on tonight in front of Gregory from 7-midnight!

Anyways, wish me luck on my tests!

The Goal is ______?

For OM 335, we've been reading a book called The Goal, and it's about a factory that has 3 months to turn their plant into profit. It's actually pretty interesting seeing this company go through the processes we've been learning in class. There's a part in the beginning where Alex, the main character, tries to figure out what the goal of the company and it got me thinking what my goal in life is. It's been a scary thought thinking about what I'm going to do after graduation, especially since I'm trying to get into an industry of instability. Oh and the economy isn't doing so well as most of yall noticed. My finance friends have been frowning this week, but hopefully things will turn around soon. Hopefully. :/

P.S. IM soccer starts this week. yesssssss.

P.P.S. My friend introduced me to this song. The band is from Japan but they sing in English...check it out:

Bring it, October!

The week flies by when you don't have Friday classes! It's already October next week so we only have 2 full months of the semester left. I can't believe I'll be in LA in a few couple of months! AHHHH, what am I doing?

So I thought about what kind of internship I want to get in LA. Since I'm getting a communications internship credit, I was thinking of getting a job as a production assistant for a major film production company. I used to contemplate double majoring in RTF, so I guess this would be my opportunity to do something in that field. I'm also planning to just stay in LA for next summer and get my marketing internship credit then. The only reason I'm doing that is because the entertainment industry likes to only hire interns if you receive credit since they don't pay you, and the UTLA program offers communications credit that I couldn't have gotten if I wasn't in the program. So basically I can get 2 internships and get credit for both of them! At least that's what my advisor thinks haha.

Yesterday, I got to go meet Gnarls Barkley at their soundcheck. I'm in a music organization called Grammy U and they often have these kinds of meet and greets to learn more about the music industry. I've already met The Fray and Blue October last year. Gnarls Barkley were really down-to-earth and they have some crazy beats. Oh and is anyone going to ACL? I didn't fully love the lineup, but I'm definitely buying one next year since it's my senior year!

I once again have no tests next week, but of course they all tend to land around OU weekend. :P

Have a great weekend and stay cool in the heat for all you ACL-ers!

P.S. Did anyone watch the Office??? I was so happy...if you know what I mean! I also found the first part of season 4 bloopers online!

My heart hurts

Man I think I've been eating too many potato chips lately. My heart feels like it's going to have a heart attack any minute. Time to cut down on those fatty foods.

My weekend was pretty nice. I got to go on a short retreat about 2 hours away and had a great time with some friends. My roommates and I also had a good 2 hour conversation last night about life. It's always good to be able to share about problems and other conflicts with friends. Plus, it's a lot better than studying. :P

I don't have another test for a couple of weeks, so I'm going to be playing catch-up this week. Still have to read a couple of chapters for IB and OM!

I missed the season premiere of Heroes!!! Did anyone watch it?? I can't wait for The Office premiere on Thursday! They ran a couple of promos during the Olympics that were hilarious!

News Flash

Oh man. I have totally forgotten how to study for freshman classes. I just got finished with my Biology test and it sucked! So many minute details!! ARGH! Looks like I have to go back to memorizing for tests...or hope for a big curve.

OM is starting to get tedious too. We have assignments due every day, and the group assignment took us about 2 hours last night. At least I find this stuff a lot more interesting than mitosis.

Anyways...Mute Math is coming out with a new album! They are some of the most creative musicians out there.

My Umbrella is Bored

I can't believe it didn't even rain in Austin! What happened to that 100% chance of rain on Saturday?! Despite of the disappointment of getting no rain, IM football continued as scheduled! Today we won our first match of the season, and hopefully it'll continue to get better from here.

I've been feeling really stressed so far this school year as a lot of my classes are heavily text-based. I'm finding it harder to keep up in all the reading with my extracurricular stuff at night. It's making me realize how much I can't wait to graduate and to start working. At least then, I'll actually have nights where I don't have to worry about homework and such.

Maybe what I need is a good massage. Or a night to myself. Or a cup of coffee.

Did anyone watch SNL? Tina Fey is hilarious:

ike ike ike

I had my mock interview yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. I feel like I've gotten a lot better than the last time I did interviews. There was a lot less nervousness and I didn't have to think too hard in trying to answer their questions. I guess it does get easier as you get older since you have a lot more experiences to talk about!

SO what's up with this hurricane? It's kind of throwing me off because all I've ever dealt with were tornadoes back in Dallas. I'm not really worried about it, but then again...should I be?!? I'm probably just going to be locked in my apartment on Saturday and hopefully get a lot of studying in. This also means that IM football will most likely be cancelled on Sunday b/c of the rain...but I guess safety comes first :P.

Everyone be safe and dry this weekend!

Upside down

This is my first semester where I have really late classes. I end at 5 PM on Monday through Thursday and then there's usually student org meetings and group meetings afterwards. I'm finding myself more and more often coming home and seeing the clock flash 11 PM back at me. So instead of studying at night, I end up studying for my classes in the morning. I'm not sure how I like this routine but we'll see how it goes as my first test is next week!!!

So this week is all about Career Services. If you haven't noticed, the b-school is always a bit hectic this week. Yesterday I went to Resumania to update my new resume. It wasn't as bad as last semester, where my resume got a complete face lift! I just need to change a few things here and there this year. Even though I'm not going through recruiting on campus this semester, I totally understand and feel the pain through my roommates. They're all running around, ironing their shirts, researching company backgrounds, and basically stressing out. I need to do some of that tonight to prepare for my mock interview tomorrow! Oh boy...I haven't done a professional interview in awhile (since most entertainment interviews are generally informal). I always get really nervous during these interviews, but I'm going to try to have some fun and relax tomorrow. Plus, I'll get a goodie bag :P.

This Sunday is our first game for IM FOOTBALL!! Woot! I definitely feel our team is championship worthy this year! I'm playing for my campus ministry, Crossroads, so if you're in my bracket...watch out! :P

Friday, September 5, 2008

I know I'm getting old...

I'm quite a morning person and I thought that I could wake up for an 8 AM basketball class. But that turned out to be oh so wrong. I ended up dropping the class on the second day haha. Oh well, at least I still have cardiovascular weight-training.

On to business news: SIGN UP FOR MOCK INTERVIEWS! I believe they have extended the deadline to sign up to midnight today! So just go to Online Campus Recruiting and search for BBA Mock interview under the Recruiting tab. It's definitely a good idea to get as much practice in with real professionals.

I also went to the new AT&T Conference Center for their open house! Of course the free tshirt is always a good incentive to go; although my collection of burnt orange shirts is getting overwhelming.

I have nothing planned for this weekend. I already need to catch up on reading for a couple of my classes. :(

Sunday, August 31, 2008

Why?!

Ok so it just took me 45 minutes to drive home from campus to west campus!! Why would anyone plan a 10K race that blocks all the exits from campus?!? And aren't these races supposed to start in the morning?? I had a horrible experience with a marathon my freshmen year. I guess that's one of the disadvantages of having the campus so close to downtown.

Anyways, first week of classes went by smoothly. I think I'm going to like IB the best this semester. My class has like 10 foreign exchange students from across the world. It's going to be a really interesting to hear from different perspectives.

As for my minor, it still stands as SCM. But if I don't end up liking OM 335, I just might consider switching to finance. I guess we'll have to wait on that one.

If yall didn't know, I'm planning on studying in the UTLA program next semester. It's an entertainment based internship program in Los Angeles. So while everyone is getting hyped up about the career expo, I need to start finding internships online. It's nice how so many companies come to UT to recruit you. I took it for granted now that I have to look for companies on my own. Sigh.

Ok well I have to go find something to eat for dinner. I think I'm going to go shopping tomorrow for my Labor day. Yay for sales!

I saw Brooke Fraser a couple weeks ago at a conference in Houston and she has the most amazing voice.

I'm a Junior? What?!?

I can't believe I'm already a third year! It's crazy to think that I'm already halfway done with my college career!!

Well if this is the first time you're reading my blog...welcome! I'll be updating a lot on my classes and my experiences throughout the semester, and hopefully you'll find it helpful!

This summer I got the awesome opportunity to study abroad for 5 weeks in Paris! I also blogged throughout my stay in Europe so you can view my older posts to read about that.

Hope everyone has a good first week of class! Go get those free tshirts and free food!

Oh and I don't have Friday classes this semester. YES!

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Olympics = my life

Sorry for the lack of updates. There's been nothing going on other than studying lately. I finished my ACC Govt class today though so I only have till Friday with Finance!!! The exam is cumulative, but I think I have a pretty good standing right now.

The Olympics just started this past weekend and I find myself sitting in front of the TV for hours every night. I do this every Olympics, winter or summer. I can literally watch any event and be amused. Did anyone watch the men's 4x100 swimming relay? That was insane! My roomies and I were screaming so much. Got to love sports. :)

I think I'm still moving in next weekend so I'm planning on staying in Dallas after my Finance exam. Hope everyone is enjoying their last couple of weeks.

Surprisingly, I like this version better than the original: Coldplay-Viva la Vida

Monday, August 4, 2008

Countdown: 9 classes

Only 2 weeks left of summer school! I'm pumped!

Thursday, July 24, 2008

Is it still summer?

I'm starting to feel lazy and regret taking classes for second session. I probably should've taken it easy and relaxed.

Then a friend reminded me, "Weren't you in Paris for a month?"

Oh yea. Sigh.

Stocks, Bonds, Interest, Oh MY

First week of Finance is over and I'm a little worried. The class is moving so fast that I'm struggling to keep up with the concepts and readings. Plus I never liked compounding interest in math class. I have my first test on Wednesday and hopefully I'll do well b/c I don't feel like Q dropping anything.

Batman came out the other day and everyone is raving about it. I couldn't get tickets this weekend b/c my friend and I wanted to watch it at IMAX and it was sold out till Monday. I can't wait for it though! It's like the only summer movie I've been really looking forward to. Next up: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince :)

So I went to Gregory the first time since coming back from Paris, and I couldn't go back to the gym for 4 days. I'm so sore it's ridiculous. It's a bit frustrating starting all over from the beginning considering I took weight training the whole last semester. Oh well, at least I won't have to go through this at the beginning of Fall semester.

And these Jonas Brothers make such popishly addicting songs:

Withdrawal

I'm finally back in Austin and I'm semi-depressed. It's good to be back and see family and friends, but I'm definitely having some Paris withdrawal. Everyone keeps tagging pictures on Facebook and it's makes me miss it even more.

So basically I loved CIBER. The program itself was a little disorganized at times, but the experience was well worth it. The city location for the Marketing program was awesome too. Paris is such a big and culturally rich city that there was something to do and see everyday. It definitely wasn't a boring place to be living in! I've learned so much about myself just from traveling and learning to deal with other people. I feel like i've matured a lot in certain areas and know which areas i still need some work on. If I had another chance to go abroad I would take it in a heartbeat. I know everyone says this after they study abroad, but GO STUDY ABROAD if you don't plan to. Plus, CIBER is only 5 weeks so it's perfect for anyone who gets home sick. :P

My Govt class at ACC started yesterday and I'm already behind on the reading...go figure. I'm still a little jetlagged but I shouldn't be using that excuse :P. My finance 357 class starts next week and I'm pumped cause that means I can go to gregory and start working off those croissants and crepes.

More pics from Europe (oh how i miss you...):

Sticky Fingers

That just did not happen.

So my two friends and I went to the beach today while the rest of our group went to a Jack Johnson concert. Two of us went to go into the water while the other one stayed back to watch our stuff. In literally 30 seconds, my friends purse get stolen! The even worse part is that she had her passport and all her money in it, so we are praying that she will be able to fly back to paris tomorrow. Speaking of passports, did you know that the U.S. Embassy closes on the the weekend?!?!?! I don´t understand it at all. Oh and it also took us 3.5 hours to find the police station to file a report. We are back at the hostel but have no room key or a way of communicating with the concert group about what happened...

soooo...probably not the best trip this summer =/

winding down!

Rome was amazing!! There was soooo much to do. We ended up walking around the city for 14 hours the first day. We are definitely some hardcore tourists. The gelato was also amazing! Yum yum.

I'm leaving for Barcelona this Thursday! I'm pumped to be able to spend the last weekend in Europe on the beach...hopefully it'll be very relaxing.

As for school, we have way too much work! It's not fair seeing the Accounting program students getting to go out and play while we stay in writing our papers. One of the girls in our class counted how many assignments we had to do and it turned out to be 14!!! That's 14 assignments out of the 20 days of class. We've also had group projects for each class and it's been confusing as to who's in what group since I'm in 4 different groups. We also have 2 exams and 2 group presentations next week to finish off the program. I can't wait to finish! but then that means Paris will be finished too. Oh bittersweet.

where are you, chipotle?

i am so missing tex-mex...or anything spicy really. everything here is about bread and sweets, and my taste buds are getting bored haha.

it's been quite chilly here lately. the high has been around 65 and i didn't really pack that many sweaters. but I guess i can't complain considering it's around 95 in Texas :P.

I think the CIBER program is planning a small excursion for us to Versailles this week. I'm also going to a Paramore concert on Wednesday with my friend! I'm stoked. Then I'm off to Rome/Milan on Thursday!

Less than 3 weeks left! Bittersweet...

Cultural what?

The course schedule here is getting a bit hectic. We have 4 teachers for 2 classes and they each assign their own course work. The hard part is that some teachers meet every Monday and Wednesday but then other teachers only meet once a week, so the deadlines are getting complicated. They all keep talking about culture culture culture that I will understand the French/U.S. culture inside out by the end of these 5 weeks. Not to say that leanring about culture is bad, I just wished we talked about other things now an then. I hope they grade easy though. :)

Cultural Negotiations

I had this conversation with some of my other friends here in Paris, and we all agreed that traveling definitely tests your character. It's already been 17 days in Europe and I have definitely learned a lot about who I am and how to work with others.

I finally had my cultural breakdown a few days ago. I knew it would happen and it finally did when I got to Paris. I just became frustrated with now knowing the language and being lost. It almost happened in Prague too, but I think it was too early into the trip to lose control. I don't blame you, Paris. I'm just a little exhausted from being a foreigner and having to adjust.

I'm still having a great time abroad though! It's been fun meeting a bunch of people (the accounting kids are cool too). There are still a lot more memories to come.

Typing in France is Hard

I am finally in Paris and we just finished our second day of classes! the professors so far have been really good, but our classes are 4 hours long...and I thought my hour and half classes were bad! The language barrier here is a bit annoying at times. I am not going to lie, some people here arent really into helping out either. But everything has been manageable so far.

So i am typing this is the computer lab and the letters are mixed up on the keyboard so it is taking a really long time to type this so i will leave with this: GO TO BRUSSELS!!! they have amazing chocolate, waffles, and a great environment!

Prague!

I'm almost done with my stay at Prague! London was AMAZING and the whole group had a lot of fun doing all the touristy stuff. The exchange rate with the pound is horrible though so I'm glad I'm in the Czech Republic now. We've been walking around everywhere and my feet and hands are all scratched up, but the sights have been worth it! It's amazing to see such different cultures and lifestyles. I'm really excited to finally settle down in France though. Living out of a suitcase has been rough! We are heading to Amsterdam tomorrow and then Belgium to get some waffles! Here are some pics from London:

Au revoir!

I'm leaving for Europe tomorrow!! Haha honestly I'm a bit tired already from packing and buying things I'll need, but I know it'll be worth it in the end! We finally figured out the hostels for London, Prague, and Amsterdam. I think we're just going to wing Brussels haha. I think I'm going to bring my laptop with me, so I hope to update this thing with pictures!

By the way, I saw Narnia: Prince Caspian this past weekend and it was awesome!

this is home

My Spanish exam was quite easy so I'm pleased to end the semester on a good note. Even though that class was a pain with all the busy work, I loved my teacher and the friends I've made in that class. In the end, I think it was worth taking. :)

So STA Travel didn't really help us with our traveling issues haha. We're basically going to sit down today and just buy tickets to places and hopefully it'll all work out once we're there. If not, well let's not talk about that. ;)

I'm planning to head back up to Dallas on Saturday so I can spend time with my family for Mother's Day. Speaking of which, I think I'm going to cook breakfast for my mom. I don't have a lot of experience with cooking so this should turn out interesting.

I really don't want to leave Austin though. I feel like there isn't much to do once I'm back home since everyone is still here. Maybe I'll make a road trip next weekend for graduations...?

Well this is my last official post for the school year! If you've been dropping by and reading, I greatly appreciate it! It's been a fun and quick year, and I can't believe I'm a junior now!! If you're still interested in reading my posts in the summer, bookmark my page (it'll be taken off McCombs' site soon) and I'll try to keep yall updated with my experiences in Europe! If not, I'll be back next semester blogging so have a great summer and stay productive :P.

I'll leave you with Switchfoot -This is Home. They made this song for the new Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian movie. I can't wait for it!

totally relaxed

I'm not going to lie. It's been awesome not worrying about exams this past weekend. I don't think I'm even going to start studying for Spanish until Tuesday. :)

So tomorrow, a couple of friends (from CIBER) and I are going to STA Travel on the drag. We figured they'd be the best help in figuring out our hectic schedule. I'm crossing my fingers that we'll be buying plane/train tickets tomorrow.

Last week, the BBA Career Services gave the student workers a luncheon and it was awesome. Free catered food plus dancing career advisors: priceless. Everyone tried to make Melissa do the Soulja Boy dance but she wouldn't give in to the temptation :P.

But just for you Melissa, I happen to have a video of my friends and me doing the soulja boy at a camping trip earlier this year. Hope you're reading this. :P

PS. ABSA is hosting "Feed Your Mind" Monday and Tuesday night at 10PM in the atrium! They are giving out a lot of free food and goodies for exams. So if you're on campus studying, go grab some food!!

Only 1 Exam!

Yes sir, you read it right. I aced my marketing test so I don't need to take the optional final for it! YESSSSSS. So that means I only have one exam which is in Spanish. I think my professor said it's on the 7th so i'll be done after next Wednesday!

I did end up getting Kanye tickets for my sister and me! Pretty good seat locations too. I'm especially excited because Rihanna is opening up. "You can stand under my umbrella...ella..."

Speaking of umbrellas, what's up with random hail storms?!? I woke up Sunday morning to the thuds on my window. But it did bring a nice cool front today. :)

For CIBER, I still don't know where I'm going or what I'm doing!! It's driving me crazy! But our group is planning to meet on Saturday, and I am definitely going to be buying a bunch of train/plane tickets and hostels this weekend. I can't believe there's only like 20 days before we leave for Europe. This is going to be a crazy summer session. For the second half of summer, I think I'm going to take HIST 1302 at ACC at 9:05 AM and then come to campus at 11:30 to take FIN 357. I was going to take 2 classes at ACC but I think 3 classes overall in one session is a bit overwhelming. I'm probably going to end up taking TX Govt through distance learning in the fall. Other than that, I'm planning on tanning and exercising (especially after coming from Paris) everyday at Gregory.

In other study abroad news, I got my International Student ID card today at STA Travel. I usually don't like how I end up looking on ID cards, but this one turned out alright! Haha, actually I look really young in it... like around 10th grade young.

So I realized I haven't posted up music on here in awhile so I'll leave you with Panic! at the Disco - That Green Gentlemen

Friday, April 25, 2008

No way Jose

My sister is coming to Austin next week to go to the Kanye West concert!! Now I just need to get tickets off of Craigslist haha.

So I was bordering between an A and a B in BA 324, but now I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the B. I don't think she's very happy with our final report even though we spent a lot of time working on it. We even got it edited by the Undergraduate Writing Center!! But it's ok. I'm starting to view life past the GPA. I mean it's good to strive for a high GPA, but there is so much more to life (and getting a job). I know this might sound obvious, but I think we often get trapped in that mindset (especially us business kids).

Anyways, I missed new episodes of Ugly Betty and The Office tonight because a couple of my friends were performing at Korean Culture Night. Thank goodness they put full episodes online :).

Random video: This baby is soooo cute.

Jabbawockeez?... Nahhhh

So these pictures make us look a lot cooler than we are. :P
We had a hiphop/pantomime performance at our Xroadz talent show. It was really fun, but I'm so ready to sleep!

My school schedule this year has been quite easy, but man is Spanish a lot of work! I have a 20 page homework and a 3 page report due tomorrow. He also assigned us a group project due next week too! Ahhhh so much busy work!

My last marketing test is also next Monday and I haven't read any of the chapters because of the talent show. I need to get an 88 to be exempt from taking the final so I'm going to be really studious this week.

For CIBER, our group is having trouble figuring out what cities to visit before actually going to Paris. Since we are landing in London, my idea was to fly to Italy after staying a couple of days in England. Then we could get a 3 country Eurail pass and visit all around Italy, Switzerland, and South France. I really want to travel to Prague, but there aren't many cheap options to getting there. Although I'm excited to study abroad, it's getting a little bit stressful right now. Hopefully we'll be able to find decent hostels too. :/

So the ACL 08 Lineup came out and I'm thinking of going with a group of friends this time around. Even though I don't really know many of the bands, it'll still be interesting to find new music and suffer heat strokes with your good friends. Check out the lineup: http://www.aclfestival.com/lineup.aspx

Well there's only 2 weeks of classes left, so good luck everyone with their last tests/finals!

Here's a clip of the first part of our dance that I've uploaded on YouTube (I'm in the middle)...if you want to see the rest, just go my YouTube page later tonight:

who has the worst luck with rose?

i do!

2 registered classes.
5 waitlists.

The good thing is that I'm running out of business classes to take...so technically I can just take random electives.

Medical terminology anyone?

Low batteries

Only 3 weeks of class left and I am running low on energy. I've been doing a lot of work for my campus ministry, Crossroadz. We have a talent show on Saturday at FAC and I've been consumed with that for the past few weeks. I don't even have time to do much schoolwork for now. Sigh. Must go read govt for my test tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Another Round of Registration

Registration is around the corner and I think I've figured out what I want to take next semester:

LEB 323
IB 350
MAN 336
BIO 301M

I might switch MAN with OM but we'll see...

For the summer, I want to take a class at UT because I want access to Gregory (I know I know). So I'm thinking of taking FIN 357 for the second summer session after I get back from Paris.

Speaking of Paris, I had a CIBER orientation and I am getting a little worried. There's so much info to worry about with all our travel plans and little things like converters and laptops. All I know right now is that a group of us are flying into London but we don't know where we're staying or how we're actually going to get to France. Oh and it doesn't help that I don't know a lick of French. This is going to be such an interesting experience haha.

My friend introduced me to this guy, but he is crazy!! The next Timbaland maybe?

Kirby's Razorleaf Dream Team

Yup. That was our ridiculously long name for our girl's football team. We played tackle football today and our team won!! The game was pretty intense and adrenaline was all over the place. It was fun meeting new girls and help raising $3000 for our charity!! Only down side...my good friend broke her collar bone during one of the plays. She'll be alright though...she's a trooper. :)

So this tackle football has done a lot to my body. I wake up all sore with random bruises, and I never knew you could sprain your palm. Haha I really want to go get a spa treatment next weekend. That would be perfect.

This week... I must catch up on marketing!!

On a random note, I've been watching the 4th season of The Office online and it's hilarious! I'm so upset that I didn't start watching this show earlier. I love John and Jenna's humor on the show...now I just need to find the first 3 seasons.

0-2

Well at least I'm getting better at case comp haha. I thought my team did pretty well considering the fact that we've never worked with each other before (except for brian and me) and that we didn't really have our solution till the last night. The judges really liked our information and our approach, but an all-nighter did not help us with our presentation skills. Competing in two case comps, I feel like I know a lot more about how to win one in the future. For now, I'm going to take a year break. I don't think I can handle any more cases for awhile.

In other news, I made a 95 on my Spanish test because I forgot to correct the False questions in the T/F section. UGH. What a waste of points. At least the whole class didn't do it too!!

SHOWDOWN 2008 is this Sunday!!!
Girls playing tackle football for charity! It's going to be awesome...Come support the other girls and myself! I'm playing tight-end ;)
1:00 PM @ Laycee Field (Zilker Park)

I'm sad that America's Best Dance Crew is over. What an addicting show. But I found one of the lead dancers from Kaba Modern freestyling on YouTube. How awesome.

Case Comp

ahhhh 3 hours...

no sleep....

must practice...

Monday, March 24, 2008

I'm running out of titles

I finished my BA group presentation! YESSSSS! I thought it went pretty well, especially since we were the first group to go. Now we just have to do the written part but lets not worry about that just yet.

Marketing test wasn't that bad either. There were some tricky questions but overall nice and easy. My Spanish test got moved back to tomorrow so now I got to go cram for that. Oh and case competition kicks off today. I think I ate Wendy's everyday during the last one. Maybe I'll try spicing it up this time...like Dobie or Chipotle...ooooo I know.

Pictures update!

Last week in ABSA we had 'ABSA's Next Top Model'...it was quite disturbing/awesome. Can you tell who got the makeover?

My friend's 20th bday...we love her so much.

Expressing my frustration during the BizIT case comp...hahaha.

Not again Part 2

Wow I'm competing in case comp again. It was a really last minute decision and I know I'm going to regret it next week haha! I only agreed to do this one because it's only for 1 week unlike 2 last time. It just sucks that after my crazy Monday I can't relax and enjoy myself. So this weekend I need to cram all my studying and hopefully be productive.

So ABSA is hosting this girl's tackle football game for charity. I can't wait to tackle some people! Hahaha...tomorrow is the first practice so it'll be fun to see what happens. The game is going to be on April 6th at 1PM at the IM fields!

I hope everyone has a good Easter weekend... I know I won't. :(

Random video: British accents are even cuter on babies.

Not again

So I guess I'm pretty bad at completing goals:

Goals for break:
1. learn to drive standard
2. buy a car (automatic haha)
3. go crabbing in Galveston
4. eat crepes, taco bueno, and good korean food
5. maintain some kind of exercise
6. catch up in MKT
7. write a screenplay with my friend
8. shop :P

Let's see...the only goals I managed to complete were #2 and #4 haha. I got sick at the beginning of break so I couldn't do #3,5,6,7,8 and my friend's tire exploded causing #1 to not happen. So overall, not a productive break at all.

For the second time this semester, ALL my tests/projects are going to fall on the same day. This weekend is not going to be fun. On the 24th I have my marketing test, BA final group presentation, Spanish test, and a blogger meeting! But something really cool for our BA project... I was able to get in contact with one of the producers of the movie "Will" for our interview so I will be calling in about 30 minutes. Awesome primary source, huh? Hooray for connections!

CIBER marketing program is coming up so quickly! I just realized I have about 2 months to plan everything for Paris. A group of us are planning to meet tonight to figure out flight tickets and travel arrangements throughout Europe...should be exciting/stressful.

OK I have nothing else to write so I leave you with a compilation of my favorite dance crew on "America's Best Dance Crew"... Kaba Modern :)

Thursday, March 6, 2008

Did that just happen?

Wow networking really does work. My friend and I have made good connections with the assistant to the director of the movie that's been filming on campus this week. He's been allowing us to examine the set and helping us learn more about production...and all I have to say is dinner with Lisa Kudrow and rock band in the trailers with the cast.

For weight training, we get a free physical test from F.I.T. on campus. I did the body scan that supposedly costs around $400 to run at hospitals. It's quite surprising what I need to do to get into better shape :(.

Spring break has officially started! My spanish and BA class got cancelled so I am free!!! Except I need to read 5 chps for marketing to catch up...

Goals for break:
1. learn to drive standard
2. buy a car (automatic haha)
3. go crabbing in Galveston
4. eat crepes, taco bueno, and good korean food
5. maintain some kind of exercise
6. catch up in MKT
7. write a screenplay with my friend
8. shop :P

Hope everyone has an awesome break! I'll try updating throughout the week. :)

Rock the Vote

So being the busy bee I am, I didn't get a chance to early vote last week. So now I have the pleasure of waking up really early to go vote. Hurray for being a citizen! haha! It should be interesting to see what happens after tomorrow night.

In BA 324, we've started working on our final group presentations. It kind of feels like case comp all over again. Lots of research and lots of writing. At least our topic is interesting. I suggested the Writers Guild strike and we ended up sticking with it. I need to start finding people to interview for it!

Career week is this week and it looks like I can't make it to PR/Advertisement on Thursday b/c our BA group is meeting up around that time. I am going to try to make it to Sales though!

In other news, I took my car to the dealership and got back a report saying I need $5000 to fix it up. So instead my parents are going to come down here and help me get a new car. I'm actually really sad to let my car go. I've had so many experiences with it. It kind of feels like losing a dog to a certain degree. I'm sure I'll get over it though haha :P.

For the rest of spring break, I might go to Galveston with some friends to go crabbing. I've never been before and I hear it's quite fun.

Well I got to get off and do some spanish homework...and GO VOTE!

...more dancing:

It's a Wrap!

The three most precious words...EVER!

Yesterday I went on set for a movie featuring Vanessa Hudgens, Aly Michalka, Lisa Kudrow, etc. It felt like the longest day of my life. I checked in at noon and checked out at 2 am!! The scene was a rock concert so we had to listen to the same song over and over and over. It was pretty cool though b/c I got to dance right next to Aly in a close up. Hahaha! So if you guys go watch the movie, I'm the girl to her left. :P

The experience itself was pretty sweet though. I've never been on set of a motion picture so it was really fun to watch the crew and to see how the director works. I even thought of double majoring in RTF but after last night, I don't know if I would've had enough in me to shoot that much everyday. They're going to start filming on campus this Sunday. I haven't decided if I want to go yet. We'll see how my weekend goes.

So while I was doing that, I was bummed to miss out on Bill Clinton's rally. I thought I knew who I was going to vote for until the debate last week. My vote is really up in the air right now. I think tonight is Obama's rally so I'll try to go to that one especially since Ben Mckenzie from The O.C. is speaking. It's really cool that all these speakers and celebrities are coming for us on campus. It's cool to see how important our vote is for this primary.

Classes have been going smoothly. I don't have anything major before spring break so I'm just taking each day as it comes. As for spring break, the ski trip didn't fall through so I guess I'll just spend some time back in Dallas.

Next week is career prep week and they have some interesting seminars. I particulary want to go to Sales and PR/Advertising since those relate the most to marketing.

Alrighty well I have nothing else to say right now so I will leave you with another video clip. One of the many reasons why I love the Internet is that you can find so many talented people (and not so talented haha). I love his voice:

P.S. Shout out to Paul So...you better read this!

No mas!

Case comp is over! Hurray! Unfortunately, we didn't make the finals but we had the worst odds to begin with. All the other rooms only had 2 groups but we had 3 so that sucked. We're pretty disappointed but I don't think any of us regret entering. It's very rewarding to finally present our solution that we've been working on for so long. Who knows...maybe I'll enter ABSA's case comp later this year.

Now that case comp is over, I need to catch up on my reading. I have a government test I have to take for ACC by next wednesday and I haven't started. Oops.

Has anyone been watching America's Best Dance Crew on MTV? There are some sick crews. Here's one from UC irvine:

Breath of air

I just finished my marketing test. I only got about an hour last night to study but the test turned out to be really easy. I didn't get sleep yesterday and my hand started shaking while I was trying to bubble my scantron. I am so passing out when I get home in a couple of hours.

Case comp write-up took a lot longer than we expected. It would've been a lot better if half our team didn't go back to dallas last weekend :P. But we still managed to pull it together and I guess we'll see how we do this Friday.

I recommend everyone to compete in case comp. Even though it does take most of your life and you can't really do anything else during that time, you learn a lot about working with other people. It's not like those group projects you have in classes... you literally live with the people on your team 24/7. It's quite an experience.

My car has been acting funny. It makes a weird sound when I start the engine and it changes gears abruptly. I have to go get a check up but this week doesn't look like I can go and get it fixed.

I still don't have spring break plans and that's not good. I didn't do anything over winter break so I really really want to travel for this break. Either that or my boss might make me work at SXSW. Some of his bands are performing so I'd help out with all that jazz...I don't even know what I'm writing right now. I'm so tired. Gnight.

Crash & Burn

i'm becoming nocturnal.

sleeping times

thurs night 4:30 am
fri night 3:00 am
sat night 7 am
sun night ... probably an all-nighter

i guess you wouldn't consider it night.

case comp is due in 11 hours. when am i going to study for my marketing test tomorrow? actually... when am I going to shower? :(

... more later...

I'm losing my mind

I just lost 2 bucks from the vitamin water vending machine. Then I went to the next one to get water and I accidentally pushed the Pepsi button :(. Dang it!

Anyways, last night I spent about 4 hours baking for ABSA...so please please please go to the atrium and buy some lovely cookies ;). I finished my 20 pages of Spanish homework while baking them, geez did that take long. I have a test in Spanish tomorrow and I don't know where I'm going to find time tonight to really study.

Don't you hate it when everything lands on one day? I have a marketing test, BA presentation, case comp report, and a blogger meeting all on next monday. It's going to be the longest, most hectic day for this semester. I wonder how many hours of sleep I'm going to be running on.

I also forgot that most of the study abroad scholarships are due this Friday. AHHHH I can't wait till these next two weeks are over. I'm already feeling intimidated by everything going on.

So I went to BA 101 classes today and yesterday to plug our blogs. I hope you guys are reading this! Julie and I had a lot of fun doing it even though we were starting to freak out about right before talking haha! Oh, public speaking. Good times.

Valentine's day is coming up. I wish I had someone to spend it with <3. But some of my friends are probably going to go do something to overshadow our depression of having no one. hahah just kidding! I really don't have time right now for anyone...but maybe after two weeks :P.

AACM Talent show is this Saturday! I have a couple of friends who are going to be in, so hopefully I can take time off of case comp and go watch. Here's what ABSA did at last year's show:

What have I got myself into?

These next two weeks are going to be brutal. I signed up with my friends for the BizIT Case Competition. We have a week to finish our written proposal and the week after are the presentations. I'm kind of excited since it is my first case comp, but the timing is all off. I have so much going on I kind of regret signing up for case comp. I guess this will really test how well I can manage my time.

Last Thursday was the McCombs Diversity Club dinner and I actually had a good time. I was quite skeptical in going because all the companies I want to work for (Warner Brothers, Columbia Music Group, etc) don't come out to these McCombs recruiting events. So for the majority of the time I felt like I didn't want to be there, but the company I got to eat with just so happens to own a large entertainment company: it was destiny. The recruiters were really helpful in giving me tips and information on trying to get internships with them and I feel like I have a good understanding of what I need to do to stand out. The food was also great and that is always a plus.

On a random note, today my friend and I visited the Austin Studios for a casting call on a major motion picture featuring Vanessa Hudgens. It'd be interesting being on set of a feature film and I might try to mingle in with the production crew. A family friend is actually casted in this film so it'd be cool to get to see him. I'll update more on that as the month goes on.

The band I help manage hasn't been using me lately. I think they have been busy all around the country touring with Kelly Clarkson or making tracks with Jason Mraz. I should try contacting my boss haha.

My friend and I are also going to start writing a screenplay for fun. We both have a really similar sense of humor so it'll be interesting to see what comes out of it.

Well I'm sorry if I don't post often or if they're really depressing in the next couple of weeks.

Hm can't think of anything to leave yall with so here's some High School Musical :P ... I wish it was summer...

UPDATE: I just got an email back from my boss. He's in LA and going to the Grammy Awards tomorrow. *Jealousy*

Super Duper Tuesday

What a busy week! Everyone ready for Career Expo tomorrow? I'm not looking for an internship this summer so I decided to volunteer for it. I also dropped by Resumania and it was so helpful! My resume has a lot of flaws in it that I never have noticed before. It's surprising to see how much I need to edit it.

On Thursday, I'm attending the Interactive Diversity Forum. It'll be my first recruiting dinner and I'm quite nervous. I probably should've gone to an Etiquette Dinner before this.

The BizIT case comp is coming up and I think I might form a team. I know I'll be sacrificing a lot to compete in it but I've always wanted to enter one. The deadline to enter is this Friday!

Of course, today is Super Tuesday. It'll be very very interesting to see the results at the end of tonight. I registered to vote for the Texas Primary yesterday and I'm quite excited. It'll be my first time voting! I'm still trying to research more about each candidate before I make my final decision.

I'm not trying to plug anyone here... but I thought this was a cool marketing technique. Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas turned one of Obama's speeches into a song and made a music video. It's quite inspirational. Check it out:

Anyone else but you

Today in BA 324 we had our first short essay exam. I realized how hard it is for me to write in active voice!! I just stared at the paper thinking of different ways of writing each sentence. My essay wasn't long because I spent the whole time trying to write properly, so hopefully I'll won't get too many points off.

Yesterday's ABSA was probably one of the best meetings I've been to all year. A professor came and talked to us about how not to waste our salary after we graduate. In summary:
1. Don't buy a new car
2. Pay off your debts now
3. Invest in your 401K

Anyways, the Super Bowl is this Sunday and I could really care less. It would've been different if Green Bay made it, but I don't care enough about the Patriots or Giants to watch with enthusiasm; but of course I'll still watch it. Who would pass the excuse of eating pizza and wings with your friends on a Sunday night?!

I still don't have any plans for spring break. Everyone seems too busy to be able to plan out a trip. If nothing happens in the next two weeks, I'll buy a film pass to SXSW. I would get a music pass except that it costs twice as much at $600. I'll save that one for senior year.

Speaking of indie films... here's one of my favorite scenes from Juno. If you haven't seen it yet, go watch it! NOW!

A Shaky Start

Isn't it so disappointing when you put in so much effort but come up short? It's only the beginning of the semester though, and hopefully things will start turning up...

Sorry just had to get that out of the way!

Anyways, Habitat 4 Humanity meeting was short and sweet. I really like this organization because it's awesome to be able to help others in such a big way. I'm hoping I can go build in a couple of weeks!

I also went to the Management Boot Camp seminar and got to talk to a career advisor about my minor. I think I'm going to stick with my supply chain management minor just because I feel like it'd be good to have an overall view of the whole business process. Just from talking to some of my friends, I don't think yall remember that career advisors are there for YOU! So go take advantage of them! I know many of you guys are confused and not sure about which classes or routes to take, but just go drop by the Career Library and you'll be able to get a bunch of helpful info. You can thank me later :P

Next week is a busy one! The Career Expo is on Wednesday and you know what that means...Resumania! Haha well at least I need to get my resume checked. Actually, I don't think I'm going to go to the expo this semester since I can't do an internship over the summer, but it'd still be nice to have an updated and corrected resume.

So the Texas primaries are coming up and I decided to register to vote. I went online to register but apparently you have to print out the form and mail it in. Being a college kid, I didn't have any stamps so I couldn't send it in. haha! I guess I'll just wait till next Monday and register on the Drag. I encourage everyone to get educated about the election and to register to vote as well! Here's a helpful rundown on each candidate: www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/issues/

Sorry for posting only music lately. I usually put up random videos but I've been finding a lot of new music online.

Boot Camp

We just had our first IM basketball today and I fell right on my right knee. I have a pretty little bump growing on it right now. My right achilles tendon is also sprained. So if you see me limping around campus...come and say hi :P

So this week is Boot Camp! For you people who aren't quite sure what major you want to be or just want more information, this should be perfect.

Monday:
International Business 12-1 pm
Business Honors 1:30-2:30 pm

Tuesday:
Management 12-1 pm
Finance 1:30-2:30 pm

Wednesday:
ERB/Supply Chain Mgmt 12-1 pm
Accounting 1:30-2:30 pm

Thursday:
MIS 12-1 pm
Marketing 1:30-2:30 pm

All of the sessions are at the Career Library. I think I'm going to go to Management and Supply Chain since I'm not sure which one I want to minor in.

Tomorrow's the first meeting for Habitat 4 Humanity! I'll update later on that and Boot Camp.

More music: John Mayer covers Justin Timberlake's 'I Think She Knows Interlude' on the guitar...pretty sweet

Je vais à paris!

I'm going to Paris! I just turned in my deposit today for the CIBER Marketing Program for this summer. I can't wait to plan out my trip! What's even better...since I'll be taking two upper-division MKT classes, I'll be really ahead in my degree plan. This summer is going to rock!

I'm writing this in the Mil Lab right now. I have a two hour gap between my last class and my spanish lab. My classes have been really good actually. Since I changed my schedule from the beginning of the semester, the workload has been manageable. The only questionable class right now is weight training. I'm so tired after that class! Haha I guess it's a good thing but I'm still waiting for basketball to open up.

I flipped through my old posts and I'm sad to see that half the youtube clips I posted up are now gone. So I apologize if you're looking through and it doesn't work.
